The worship band known as Dutton has been playing together since early 2004 when front man Logan Walter pieced together a group to play with him at University Baptist Church (located on Dutton Avenue in Waco, Texas). UBC, founded in the mid-1990s by David Crowder and a collection of forward-thinking 20-somethings, needed a steady back-up band when the ascending David Crowder Band hit the road on national tours. But UBC got more than a "B-team" when Walter, guitarists Brian Patterson and Shane Wilson, and drummer Nathan Jennings gelled together as Dutton.

By the summer of 2005, Dutton’s reputation as a band that delivered a true worship experience with rock n’ roll punch had spread, and the boys’ calendar began to fill up with camps, retreats and discipleship weekends. In March 2007, The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas scooped up UBC’s "back-up band" to lead worship on Sunday mornings for their contemporary service. That led to a permanent partnership as Dutton has now become the regular worship band at The Heights. That is, when Dutton’s touring schedule "dutton" interfere (pun intended). The boys’ are currently playing conferences, church events and concerts across the nation.

What started as a collection of collegians with a shared love for God and music has developed into a full-time band of passionate worshipers who pour themselves into original songs designed specifically for the corporate worship setting. Walter, Jennings, Patterson and Wilson, along with new bassist Josh Hicks, bring a worship experience that is spiritually uplifting and sonically pleasing. Off stage, they’re as easy-going and fun-loving as any band in any genre. On stage, there’s no mistaking their commitment to the overall worship experience.

Simply put: This band "dutton" disappoint.

According to Ragamuffin Soul and Wikipedia (read the full entry over at Ragamuffin’s site for the full explanation), David Crowder Band welcomes new guitarist Mark Waldrop to their ranks. The new members means there’s more than likely and ex-member, which would be Taylor Johnson.

So, without further ado, Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Mark Waldrop. (He’s the one who looks sorta rockstarish.) He has some serious mad guitar skills, a healthy volume of Harry Potter information in his head, and deep roots in the piney woods of East Texas.

I love this group!

I also just received an e-mail about an arts conference at Willow Creek in Chicago.

David Crowder Band will be at the Willow Creek conference.

Thirsty 2007 Conference in Alpharetta, GA – 05/02-05/04

Specifically, one of the specials was “Held” by Natalie Grant. What made this particular performance special was that we had two members of our church do an interpretive dance along with the song. One of our teens and a young lady that operates her own dance studio.

I’m not normally a big fan of interpretive dance but the combination with this song, and the message as I stated before really nailed the point trusting in God and understanding that we’re not in control of the seasons in our lives.

Another song we sang that fit well was “Wholly Yours” by David Crowder Band.

Great service, I’m so in love with Jesus more because of our church and community we have going there. We’re not perfect , we still struggle in some areas and we an always get better. If you’re in the Indianapolis area, consider yourself invited and you can e-mail me to let me know to expect you.

The song has a really interesting sound to it, there’s a little bit of banjo that sounds really good. Our praise band at church has a banjo player for some of our songs and it adds a nice filling sound to the worship songs when he’s there. You’d never know I’m from Kentucky would you? I’m not a big fan of country music though, I like music and I like the sound of the banjo most of the time.
