I just read an update on my friend Ryan’s site and found out some details for the viewing and services for Maria Chapman who was tragically killed earlier this week.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5pm-8pm at Christ Presbyterian Church in Nashville. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11am at the church as well. Both events are open to the public. The Chapman family requests that instead of flowers, donations be made to:

Shaohannah’s Hope
c/o Maria’s Miracle Fund
PO Box 647
Franklin, TN 37065

For more information about Shaohannah’s Hope you can visit their website. There is also a site setup in memoriam for Maria Chapman.

This was shared on Maria’s site which is so touching and only further highlights the tragedy of emotions this family has endured within the past few days and weeks.

Your prayers are needed for all in the Chapman family. This is a family who has so generously loved and given to so many. Just hours before this close knit family was celebrating the engagement of the oldest daughter Emily Chapman, and were just hours away from a graduation party marking Caleb Chapman’s completion of high school. Now, they are preparing to bury a child who blew out 5 candles on a birthday cake less than 10 days ago. These words are unthinkable to type. And yet we trust in a God who was not surprised by this and because of Jesus I am certain through faith in Him we will see Maria again. – Jim Houser (Manager)

Let’s continually lift up our prayers for this family and have our eyes opened to other families that are right around us that are struggling with the same emotions in their own lives.

There’s just not any other word to describe this event other than tragic. As I was driving into work this morning I was thinking about my own life experience. When I was a little boy, 4 years old I think, we almost had a tragic accident of our own. My dad ran over me in the car at a public park where we were celebrating a church fellowship picnic. I was thinking this morning how my dad must have felt about the situation until we knew that I was going to be alright. My story is a miracle of God’s protection in that I slid under the car and one tire ran over my chest. The doctor’s didn’t believe it happened until they saw the tire track bruises appear on my chest after the event.

Our prayers are with you Chapman family. May peace, strength and courage overwhelm you today and into the future.

I just received an update on twitter from Jeremy Camp requesting prayer for Steven Curtis Chapman’s family. It appears his daughter was killed. Don’t have any more details. I’ll get more details as soon as I can.

UPDATE: According to this article in The Tennessean newspaper, 5 year old Maria was hit by a Toyota Land Cruiser in their family driveway. Adding to the tragedy is that the vehicle was driven by Steven Curtis Chapman’s teenage son and Maria’s older brother. Maria is one of the Chapman’s adopted children.

Take a moment now and pray for this family and lift them up continuously over the next few days and weeks as they continue to struggle with the loss of this precious, young life.

Dave Pettigrew is another artist I’ve been listening to lately and really enjoying. Sadly I’ve taken far too long to put my thoughts about the album down in type.

The tone of his message and lyrics are a refreshing breath of the basics of our beliefs and how we feel towards the blessings we’ve been given. His music and lyrics strongly remind me of Steven Curtis Chapman. I’m not the only person who thinks that either, as after reading other reviews of his music, others were stating the same thing.

His album “Every Minute Miracles” he weaves a tapestry of the various feelings and meanings behind this Christian life, while reminding us that the Christian life is a 24×7 one. Not something to be pulled out on the weekends and at the places we show it. Each song reminds me in a different way of what God means to me and how He impacts (or should be) every area of my life.

Change (Follow Me)

Big Enough

God’s TV

Proof of You

The Best That He Can Be

With My Faith

What Would I Do

Something More

All I Need Is You

Wonderful Maker

Some of my favorite songs on the album are bolded above. But I’ve got to mention the beautiful “All I Need Is You“. It’s such a warm ballad, but on the song there’s an amazing saxophone accompaniment that should be noted is played by Dave as well. The album closes with a familiar chorus of “Wonderful Maker”.

I’m not sure why we haven’t heard more of Dave Pettigrew. These are exactly the artists that I wish more Christian radio stations were bringing to the public’s attention. So, since you can’t rely on K-LOVE to share some new music with you, go visit Dave’s website at www.davepettigrew.net and get more information about him and his music.

A few items of change this week. The debut of Matthew West’s “You Are Everything” at #2 is pretty impressive. Not sure if I’ve ever seen a debut that high on this list or not since I’ve been reporting them here.

Looks to be a great concert with performances from:

Steven Curtis Chapman

Jeremy Camp

Hawk Nelson

Sanctus Real

Tickets are only $10 at the door. No pre-ticket purchase is required. Hopefully that doesn’t result in a mad house or overcrowding for the concert. Tour dates are there to the side if you’re interested in picking up the tour in your local city. These are the dates that are currently posted on the website.

As always, I’m always interested in getting concert pics and reviews from ANYONE for ANY CHRISTIAN CONCERT. Just e-mail me at jason@b5media.com.
