You Were Created to Hear God’s Voice

God has been really teaching me some things lately about HIS VOICE. I share this in a humble attitude because YOU WERE CREATED TO HEAR GOD’S VOICE! I’ve been actively listening, especially in the process of a major financial decision we have had to make. One car between Sharla and myself was not working anymore with all four of our schedules. We were blessed with a second vehicle that was Sierra’s and the coordination was becoming overwhelmingly stressful with four people’s schedules. So we prayed. I’ve been reading a book and the chapter was listening and allow God to direct our thoughts with his voiceRead More →

While trying to take a photo in the middle of the road this car came around the corner and almost hit me. I starting laughing when I saw myself staring them down and then I began to examine the picture a little closer. God began to speak four words over me: STAY IN YOUR LANE. I’m in a transitional season of life and while this concept is difficult no matter where you’re at, it’s especially difficult in a season of change and waiting. You look around at the calling on other people’s live and begin to ask yourself, “maybe that’s what I’m supposed to doRead More →

There’s immense value in finding folks who will love you through your “stuff,” people who know there’s more to your life than simply one moment in time. I was reminded this morning of that gift. Most of you know that I struggled as a teenager. I was trying to find my fit…I was listless. My parents, my church and my friends felt helpless. There was a couple in our church that worked with the youth group. They went on trips, they taught Sunday School and had students at their house, perpetually. They invested in tons of people. I’m just one of those people; one of theirRead More →

Our Constant

I grew up hearing people say, “I come to church to hear God’s word and apply it to my life.” I understand the thought but I’d like to suggest something. Here’s what I think; scripture is a constant and you are a variable. The bible doesn’t change but you do. Rather than taking scripture and applying it to our lives, we should be applying our lives to scripture. Here’s why; I am evolving. I’m still learning to hear God’s voice and change direction as He prompts. Scripture is God’s word to us and for us; we should take great care of it. Many mistreat it;Read More →

I had the opportunity to read a book over the past week or so that I believe is an important type of book that more men need to be reading. More importantly than just reading the book, it encourages and trains men to look for counsel from other men in their lives to help them with their growth, wisdom, maturity and obedience in Christ. The title of the book is “Wise Guys: Unlocking the Hidden Wisdom From the Men Around You”. Wise Guys Need More “MENtorship” Over the past year or so I’ve had the blessing and opportunity to be a part of a men’sRead More →
