As I was driving into work the other day, the Mark Schultz song “Letters from War” was playing on the radio. I was thinking about the coming 4th of July holiday services being prepared for at the church and thought this would be a great song to be sung for the services. I decided to just visit his website and see if he would be close to me for a concert sometime soon. Many of his songs really seem to tell a story and have signficant meaning behind them. It kind of reminds me of the early, epic Carman songs when I was growing up.Read More →

I’m looking forward to the new movie “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” to be released. I saw a preview for it last night when I took my daughter out on Daddy Date Night to go see “Cars”. I’ve also been hearing a lot of pirate jokes lately for some reason. Although he’s not a professional songwriter or artist (at least not that I know of), Sir Daniel has shared with the world on his blog a piratey Christian song lyrics. Not sure if he wrote these himself or not, but thought it was pretty entertaining. A Christian Life for Me Yo Ho YoRead More →

For any of you that have been know to put the pen to parchment and write yourself a song, be sure and check-out a new forum just for songwriters. The Songwriting Forums has been setup by b5media’s own Alan Hylands. It’s not restricted to any particular genre of music so hopefully it can become a resource for you. Alan says this: It’s going to be discussion, hints and tips for songwriters, musicians and music fans in general and being a frustrated songwriter and guitarist and having a lot of friends into the same thing it seemed like the natural kind of community to get involvedRead More →

I just read a great review of Phil Wickham by Natalie Jost on her blog the other day. Why do I think it’s a great review? Because I’ve never heard of Phil Wickham, but Natalie’s words and thoughts about the music encourage me to find out more information about this artist and try and find some samples to listen to if I can. Here’s a snippet of Natalie’s words: Another good driving song, which is bound to loose my chains no matter what, but Phil makes it pull me back down too. It’s like the ultimate love song, but not for a woman… for God.Read More →

I’ll be picking up 6 tickets tomorrow for this concert that’s being held as part of the Indiana State Fair. It’s on August 10th, so still a little ways off. I’ve been to a Smitty concert, although it’s been awhile, and I went to the Third Day “Live Wire” tour concert a couple of years ago. I’ve never been to a Jars of Clay concert. Anyone had an experience with them in concert? Let me know. I of course will provide a review and photos after the concert.Read More →
