During worship at Hermitage Nazarene this past weekend, we sang “Like an Avalanche” by Hillsong United. I wasn’t familiar with the song oddly enough so it was a nice new tune for me. One of the things that really caught me about this song was one girl on the worship team that sang the verses as a solo. Her voice was very unique and lended itself to the experience of me hearing the song for the first time. I remembered as I was listening to her sing was that she had the kind of voice that would have intrigued the judges on a show like “The Voice”. The other great thing about her singing is that you could tell she was connecting with the songs and lyrics she was singing. There were occasions on other songs where she would sing a lyric and just smile. It wasn’t a smile to the audience, it was a smile of worship and thanks to the Lord. Great to see from a member of a worship team.
If you’re not familiar with the song either, I encourage you to watch the video below. If you’re like me, it will probably be added to your list of current favorites. It makes for a great worship song too, so maybe you’ll let the worship leader at your church know about it as well if they hadn’t heard it yet.
