I was working in the office of a biblical counseling client today and one of the ladies there was listening to this song on her computer. I’ve seen a number of other secular artists do this type of thing and production, so it’s nice to hear a Christian artist do something similar. Here the singer has mixed and edited himself singing 9 different parts to perform the entire choral performance of “I Need Thee Every Hour” with just himself singing. My father-in-law and I were just talking about Take 6. He had seen them on a TV show taping recently. I just signed up for eMusic and then quickly read through everything and decided to cancel almost immediately. They didn’t make it very clear up front that the majority of their 500,000 song catalog isn’t mainstream artists and albums. So, that’s not too much for me, or at least not for a monthly subscription. They did have some Christian music, so I did take advantage of my 25 free downloads for the trial.
