The reason I jumped over to the Audio Adrenaline website tonight was because I’ve been asked to play the trumpet for an upcoming series at church. No big deal right? Ummm, yeah except that I haven’t played my trumpet for pretty much over a decade. One of the song charts I was sent to look over is DC-10 by Audio Adrenaline, from their Underdog album. The other is Kind and Generous by Natalie Merchant. The Natalie Merchant song doesn’t look too bad. The DC-10 parts may challenge my memory and fingers for some of the notes and fingerings. Luckily, neither one of them have any notes thatRead More →

This weekend in church we’re working on a series focus about the masks we put on and make people think we’re all perfect and happy, when sometimes we’re falling apart inside. As we’ve been preparing, one of our worship team members reminded me about the lyrics of the Casting Crowns song “Stained Glass Masquerade”. I thought I’d share them with you. Stained Glass Masquerade:  Casting Crowns Is there anyone that failsIs there anyone that failsAm I the only one in church today feelin so small Cause when I take a look aroundEverybody seems so strongI know they’ll soon discoverThat I don’t belong So I tuckRead More →

Mandisa Missing Her Niche

I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anyone make the statement that former American Idol contestant couldn’t sing. Crosswalk won’t argue with me on that point either, they in fact say “One thing’s for sure: This girl can sing. Her voice can fill any genre.” The problem they say though is that her album doesn’t really feel like there’s much focus. She can sing so well across so many different styles that she’s not held back to just one, but is that a problem? For someone with such a great voice, is she really missing one at the same time?
