Jeanne over at Idol Stalker just gave me the heads-up that Mandisa is doing really well with her debut release. Specifically, her song “Only the World”, she recorded with tobyMac and Kirk Franklin is doing extremely well. So well that she’s only trailing Beyonce on the Billboard Overall Single Sales at #2. Correction: “Only the World” is Mandisa’s solo release from her upcoming album. The song she recorded with tobyMac and Kirk Franklin was “Lose My Soul”, which is also great and can be heard on Mandisa’s MySpace page. In the original article on Christian Today, Mandisa said this about her faith and being onRead More →

My friend RodeoClown gave me a little feeling of serendipity this evening. He had a post about the lyrics for the Newsboys song “Lost the Plot”. What’s odd is that it was just on the radio as I was in the car earlier and the lyrics struck a cord with me. Here are the lyrics to the song. I’ve bolded the section that spoke to me this evening. Which section do you hear calling out your name or situation? Lost the Plot by Newsboys When you’re coming back again would you bring me something from the fridge? Heard the rumor that the end is nearRead More →

I’m watching tonight’s final performance episode of American Idol and seeing who’s going to bring it home between Mr. Entertainer, Blake Lewis, or Ms. Teenage Vocal Phenom, Jordin Sparks. They each get three songs, one of which is the song that was written by the winning submission for their songwriter contest. Ryan Seacrest ventures out into the audience and announces the winners who are there and it’s Scott Krippayne and Jeff Peabody. My wife and I wonder outloud if that’s the same Scott Krippayne that’s a contemporary Christian artist and songwriter. Turns out it is. I ventured onto the American Idol website and found thisRead More →

In one of my earlier posts I attributed the song “Dirty Little Secret” to the secular band All-American Rejects. The version of the song that was actually performed was by the group Pillar. It wasn’t until I was reading through the lyrics that I realized it was a different one and there were multiple versions of the song of the same title. The song that’s performed by Pillar and was used at the conference I mentioned has the following lyrics: Dirty Little Secret by Pillar Why can’t we try and understand? All these images are out of hand And in demand by every man thatRead More →

The creative arts ministry conference attended last week in Grand Rapids, MI was great! It was very inspiring, and a bit overwhelming to see the quality and excellence in production for a church that is actively doing what it takes to reach the lost around us. It was interesting to me to hear them say two specific things at the concert. They will do anything short of immoral or sinful to try and bring the lost into the walls of the church so they can hear the message of Jesus Christ Creative types and artists need to give up their big dreams so theyRead More →
