I’d like to introduce you to a good friend of mine named Chet Todd. His parents and my parents pastored in the Church of the Nazarene on the Kentucky District during our early years. He’s got one of the best senses of humor and consistently makes me laugh out loud with his jokes and wit. He’s now a lead pastor at Wellspring Church of the Nazarene in Evansville, IN. During worship at Hermitage Nazarene this past weekend, we sang “Like an Avalanche” by Hillsong United. I wasn’t familiar with the song oddly enough so it was a nice new tune for me. One of the things that really caught me about this song was one girl on the worship team that sang the verses as a solo. I was able to contact Ty, a current student at Mount Vernon Nazarene University who gave this great and to the point review. As he states, he wasn’t expecting too much from the concert given the experience last year, especially with the weather forecast projected. As you’ll read though, he was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t end up getting to go to the SonFest concert at Mount Vernon Nazarene University as I had planned. My son’s first flag football game was Saturday, a carnival at his school, and I was able to help a member of our small group move their parents into a new apartment. My new plans, nor the rain, caused anyone to get their spirits doused over the weekend. The concert still went on as scheduled and it sounded like a number of people had a really good time. Two recent graduates from Northwest Nazarene University are experiencing the times of their life since graduation. They’re on tour with Christian music artist, Shawn McDonald. Nathan Walker is playing bass on the “Ripen” tour, while Scot Mortimer is playing percussion, harmonica, guitar, and keyboards.
