A friend introduced me to Riley Armstrong quite awhile back and I loved the music, lyrics and emotion behind his first album. After that I never quite followed up with him. He never really got any radio air time in my area, so for me he kind of fell off the map.
One of his songs played on my iPod this morning on the drive into work and I’ve been listening to his first album again. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t talked about him on Christian Music Fan before now, so here it is.
Like most people, I typed www.rileysarmstrong.com into my address bar and there’s no site there. A quick Google search produced the Un-official Riley Armstrong website, which is nice but hasn’t been updated in what appears to be a couple of years. It did lead me to Riley’s MySpace page though and I added him as a friend.
He’s living in Nashville, which is no big surprise and he’s released a couple of more albums. I’m going to see if I can track those down so I can listen to them. Wonder if I can find them on eBay from someone.
On his self-titled album above, he’s got a great rendition of “Bridge Over Troubled Water”. Here’s the complete track listing.
- Intro
- Sunray
- > Greater Than
- Reborn
- The Table
- Bridge Over Troubled Water
- Sleep
- Watching Out For Tristyn
- The Only
- 9 Point 8
- Paper Cup
The tracks I bolded above are my personal favorites. I’ve got to get his newer albums and see what he’s been doing. Hopefully he’ll get his own website back up soon.
