I heard the sad news late last night, early this morning that Carman Licciardello had passed away in a Las Vegas hospital after complications from a surgery. He had amazingly been fighting a cancer diagnosis since 2013 and was planning a 60-stop tour. I used to listen to his albums on my Fisher-Price kids record player and memorize all the lyrics. A week ago I read an article about the Ichthus Christian music festival may be looking at having hosted it’s last concert. I had no idea of the financial strain and challenge they were facing. It’s too bad too. The festival has been hosted for the past 42 years in my home state of Kentucky and is the oldest running Christian music festival in the nation. To me, it seems like the different record labels and other Christian organizations should be able to infuse this festival and others like it with some cash. One of my new favorite comedians is Tim Hawkins. My wife just saw him perform recently in Cincinnati at a home schooling convention. She said he was hilarious! I already know this because I’ve spent hours finding ever video I can find of him on YouTube and his website. Now he’ll be back in my home state of Kentucky and performing at the Carson Center in Paducah, KY on June 18th. My family and I are working on developing some kind of plan to get our family to Ichthus this year. My son is quickly becoming a huge fan of a variety of Christian music artists and many of them are performing this year at Ichthus.
