Mandisa from American Idol Season 5 just signed a record deal with Sparrow Records. Mandisa said one of the greatest experiences of her time on American Idol was when she publicly forgave Simon for the comments he made about her and her weight. She said it humbled Simon and made the news and she could have left American Idol at that time and been happy. You can go to the Hear It First website and see an exclusive video of Mandisa talking about her faith and experience on American Idol this past season. The free download available this week from HearItFirst.com is Decyfer Down’s song, “No Longer”. I’m listening to it now, it reminds me Incubus’ song “Drive” for some reason. Just the feel I get from it. It’s got a rocking beat and strong guitar sound. Good song though. Decyfer Down’s End Of Grey is an explosive album that features melodic hard rock, anthem-sized songs featuring ringing guitars that melt and morph into vicious riffs and messages of searching and waiting, honesty and hope. If you don’t know, just sign-up for the HearItFirst e-mail newsletter and you get free songs like this on a regular basis. We’llRead More →

Awhile back I received a couple of Christine Evans CD’s to listen to and review on this site. Regretfully, it’s taken far too long for me to get my thoughts down in pixels so everyone could see them. She’s an up-and-coming Canadian artist/songwriter just coming off a Canadian tour. One of the things I want to do as I begin to review more and more albums is to give people an idea of the secular artists I think their style and tone mirrors to some degree. For Christine Evans, she reminds me Avril Lavigne, I’m not sure if this is intentional or not, but sheRead More →

iTunes takes a minute to recognize the roots of Christian pop/hip-hop music by saluting some of the founding fathers. They solute DC Talk and their 10-year Anniversay. iTunes celebrates the 10th Anniversary edition of dc Talk’s Jesus Freak  with a look at the band’s essential albums, solo projects from band members tobyMac and Kevin Max, and an exploration of the mark they’ve made on the landscape of contemporary Christian music. One thing I will say that irritates me about iTunes, there is no website. You have to open the iTunes software to get any of the information. That’s just annoying.Read More →
