I had an epiphany today. No, it wasn’t painful.
I’ve been struggling to to devote time to this site as I have wanted to and haven’t been keeping up with the album reviews I need to finish and publish. I’ve been looking for help from those interested in writing, but haven’t had very much luck in that arena either. The other challenge is that I’ve noticed that I’ve been sharing more lately on the social networks for this site (Facebook, Twitter, Google+) topics of interest more around faith in general in our society that spreads out to much more than just music.
I’ve always loved consuming media. Whether that be music, television, movies, books… whatever. And I’ve always enjoyed sharing those interesting things I’ve found, heard, read or watched with others to get their thoughts and opinions on the topics as well.
I recently relocated my family to the Nashville area and I’ve been excited about the potential of me being in Music City and the heartland for Christian music helping me expand the interest and content I’ve been sharing on this site. Somewhat unexpectedly though, my connections moving back to Nashville have put me in contact with more movie and film media contacts than purely music.
And that’s when it hit me (here’s where the epiphany happened), why don’t I more actively expand what I’m talking about here on the site to all things related to media and faith and our beliefs. Don’t limit it to just music, although we’ll obviously continue to cover that area, but also expand to more discussions about film, television, general portrayals of Christianity in our culture. What’s happening that’s good. What’s still being challenged? I’ll even post about some things the church and Christians are doing that I believe is hurting the overall efforts of the Church to spread the Gospel.
As I began thinking about this new direction, it also became clear that this might also provide a broader spectrum of topics and content that would interest others in sharing their viewpoints and opinions here. So if you’ve got something you’d like to share about faith and culture, let me know. I’d love to share your post with our readers.
Here’s to change… I think it’s going to be a fun new journey. Hopefully you’ll enjoy the ride with me.
