Here is what came from the Creative meeting for the “Identity Theft” series – our identity in Christ.

Please look at the questions below and fill in the blanks.

Language – We grow comfortable with, attached to, accept or assume an identity even if it is not us – we sometimes identify our identity by what we do for a living. In these ways and in other ways our true identity in Christ can get stolen. What does God have to say about this? What should Christ’s identity in us look like?

10/7 — Identity Theft Series Key theme: who we are in Christ; our born identity in Christ; bitterness/hurt in relationships can steal away what God meant for us —

10/14–Identity Theft part 2. Key theme: we work so hard at having the perfect physical image, thinking, we will be loved if we look good; God says, He loves us and it is the heart (not appearance) that matters. How do we find our true identity? Know what God says about you and focus on His love and acceptance of you.

1 Samuel 16:7 [study]

7But GOD told Samuel, “Looks aren’t everything. Don’t be impressed with his looks and stature. I’ve already eliminated him. GOD judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; GOD looks into the heart.”

7The very credentials these people are waving around as something special, I’m tearing up and throwing out with the trash-along with everything else I used to take credit for. And why? Because of Christ. 8Yes, all the things I once thought were so important are gone from my life. Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus as my Master, firsthand, everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant-dog dung. I’ve dumped it all in the trash so that I could embrace Christ 9and be embraced by him. I didn’t want some petty, inferior brand of righteousness that comes from keeping a list of rules when I could get the robust kind that comes from trusting Christ-God’s righteousness.
