You Were Created to Hear God’s Voice

God has been really teaching me some things lately about HIS VOICE. I share this in a humble attitude because YOU WERE CREATED TO HEAR GOD’S VOICE! I’ve been actively listening, especially in the process of a major financial decision we have had to make. One car between Sharla and myself was not working anymore with all four of our schedules. We were blessed with a second vehicle that was Sierra’s and the coordination was becoming overwhelmingly stressful with four people’s schedules. So we prayed. I’ve been reading a book and the chapter was listening and allow God to direct our thoughts with his voiceRead More →

This past week I had someone come up to me and say “wow, you are so lucky. You carry so much wisdom and joy for your young age.” While most people would take this as a compliment, say thank you and walk away, this hit different. I walked away wondering to myself if they thought I just stumbled upon this life I’m living now. If they see my life and think it’s always looked like this. “You are so lucky” Why am I lucky? I don’t look at my life and think “Wow, I’m the luckiest person in the world!” If anything, it’s honestly quiteRead More →

While trying to take a photo in the middle of the road this car came around the corner and almost hit me. I starting laughing when I saw myself staring them down and then I began to examine the picture a little closer. God began to speak four words over me: STAY IN YOUR LANE. I’m in a transitional season of life and while this concept is difficult no matter where you’re at, it’s especially difficult in a season of change and waiting. You look around at the calling on other people’s live and begin to ask yourself, “maybe that’s what I’m supposed to doRead More →

Hey, incoming college freshmen … I love all these pictures of you arriving on campus with your parents, decorating your dorm rooms, all that stuff. Keep posting. Brings back memories. What a big day in your lives. What a rush! I am so excited for you. Look, you’ve received a ton of advice already, but I want to offer some of my own. Take it or leave it, but at least think about it. Parents, feel free to share it with your kids if you’re too busy crying to tell them yourselves. 1. Congratulations! You are a (somewhat) independent adult now. Know what that means. ForRead More →

Should Christians Hold Political Office

My friend Matt recently shared on his personal blog his opinions on Why Christians Shouldn’t Hold Political Office. It’s an interesting statement and one that immediately caused me to initially disagree with him. My initial thought is that we need MORE Christians in political offices. But Matt’s reasoning is based in scripture and honest reflection on the challenges facing a Christian holding such responsibilities. As I shared in my comment on his post though, I do still believe more Christians should be in political office, but I also believe holding a political office should really be no different than any other job. You have aRead More →
