I got the photo above from my friend and old college roommate, Dana Baker, who got to meet Melinda Doolittle at a recent Christmas party. After touching base with him this evening, he also sent me pictures of him with Jordin Sparks as well. I gotta tell that boy to keep me in the loop next time! Do you have any photos of yourself with famous singers you’d like to share? I’d love to see them and post them to the site if you’ve got them. If you’ve already posted them on your own site, just let me know and I’ll send a link backRead More →

Mandisa appeared on Trinity Broadcasting Network’s Praise the Lord show last night. I just got the e-mail so I wasn’t aware of her appearing before now. She performed more songs from her debut album “True Beauty”. If that wasn’t enough, Mandisa has a Christmas album that will be released on November 20th. It’s a short, four-song album including these four songs: Christmas Makes Me Cry w/ Matthew West O Holy Night Joy to the World What Christmas Means to Me You can listen to Mandisa sing with Matthew West on Christmas Makes Me Cry on Mandisa’s MySpace website. Mandisa has a ton of concert datesRead More →

Donnie McClurkin, gospel singer, is touring with Barack Obama to help raise funds for his campaign and run for the presidency. A gay rights group is urging Obama to drop McClurkin because of his opinions on homosexuality being a choice. McClurkin is a Grammy Award winner who performed at the Republican National Convention in 2004. He told AP Radio in an interview that September that he was “once involved with those desires and those thoughts,” which he attributed to being raped at 8 and 13. “That’s what thrust me into it, and then God delivered me from that and gave me back who I really am and myRead More →

Mandisa Missing Her Niche

I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anyone make the statement that former American Idol contestant couldn’t sing. Crosswalk won’t argue with me on that point either, they in fact say “One thing’s for sure: This girl can sing. Her voice can fill any genre.” The problem they say though is that her album doesn’t really feel like there’s much focus. She can sing so well across so many different styles that she’s not held back to just one, but is that a problem? For someone with such a great voice, is she really missing one at the same time?
