I’m watching tonight’s final performance episode of American Idol and seeing who’s going to bring it home between Mr. Entertainer, Blake Lewis, or Ms. Teenage Vocal Phenom, Jordin Sparks.
They each get three songs, one of which is the song that was written by the winning submission for their songwriter contest. Ryan Seacrest ventures out into the audience and announces the winners who are there and it’s Scott Krippayne and Jeff Peabody.
My wife and I wonder outloud if that’s the same Scott Krippayne that’s a contemporary Christian artist and songwriter. Turns out it is. I ventured onto the American Idol website and found this introduction for the two of them:
Scott Krippayne is a singer-songwriter who cares about writing music that reflects life, resonates with people, and touches the heart. He also desires to earn enough money from songwriting to put food on the table for his wife and two kids. Jeff Peabody is a songwriter, advertising guru, graphic designer, and a pastor.
Yeppers! All the same guy. Visited his website to make sure he looked like one of the guys shown above. Congratulations Scott, way to get some mainstream notoriety and exposure for your talent and work.
On a side note, this song was totally more up Jordin’s performance strengths than Blake’s. However, the demo version that’s on the American Idol website is a better performance than both of theirs. I’m guessing that was performed by Scott himself.
