I popped in Hello Industry’s MaryAnn CD, and for a few glorious seconds I thought I was listening to 1980’s Petra. Sure, I’m probably the only one who heard it, but this album is chock full of subjective comparisons, though usually to other pop alternative bands: “Kinda reminds me of early U2.” “I think I heard a little Daft Punk in there.” “Sounds like Coldplay.” And that’s OK. My friend just bought the new Third Day album and has nothing but great things to say so far about it. He also just sent me the link to the video above with Chris Daughtry singing on the album “Revelation”. The album comes out July 29th, but you can pre-order “Revelation” now and get to listen to the available tracks streaming online. Doing some research and posting to the Idol Stalker blog I write for b5media this evening and came across a free download of Ayla Brown singing “Breath of Heaven”. Ayla Brown was a contestant on Season 5 of American Idol along with Katharine McPhee, Chris Daughtry and winner Taylor Hicks. The song is available as a free download in MP3 format. She does a really great job on this track. I haven’t heard her full album yet, but after hearing this, it may be a purchase I need to be pursuing further.
