Mark Schultz has had some great success with his albums. Although not the only thing he does, the songs that he sings that resonates with me and I believe the public are those songs that really tell a story. With favorites like: He’s Walking Her Home – a beautiful story of beginning and enduring love Letters from War I Have Been There He’s My Son Mark has absolutely left his mark and has secured his place in Christian music for the ages. On top of everything else, he’s now making his Mark in charitable efforts as well. He’s cycling across America to help widows and orphans.Read More →

I first heard and sang Chris Tomlin’s “How Great Is Our God” at a men’s retreat for our church about three years ago. We had recently started attending the church, and things in my life were not near what I had planned for that period. My position had recently been terminated on the account I was working on in the travel industry and almost 8 years of seniority at my company were not worth anything in them assisting me in finding another position at one of our other, numerous accounts. I found myself working at Lowe’s Home Improvement for over a year and we were startingRead More →

The sheet music for Vicky Beeching’s song “Join the Song” is now available for free as a download on the WorshipTogether website. The song is from her album, “Painting the Invisible” album. The only instrument I play is trumpet, and trust me, it’s been months and years since I’ve played that. We’re talking about trying to add some brass into our church’s worship band so maybe I’ll have the opportunity in the future at my church. Does your church have a worship band? Do you participate? What areas do you participate in at your church?Read More →

After writing my last post about Derek Webb’s new album The Ringing Bell, I began surfing through The Ringing Bell website more and reading about Derek and the news articles. I stumbled across a recent article that featured him in USA Today and thought it was really interesting to find out more about his beliefs and opinions with comments like the one below. Webb muses that Jesus “wasn’t a white middle-class Democrat either, incidentally. The point is that he didn’t walk any party line. But I think that the church, especially where I live, makes a terrible habit of co-opting the more conservative political party.Read More →

One of the most recent artists I’ve been introduced to and loved is Derek Webb. He has a new album, and a graphic novel, coming out entitled “The Ringing Bell” that you can pre-order. If you visit the site you can listen to the album in streaming format and preview the images that appear in the accompanying book. I like the graphic quality of the images. Very stark, strong lines and bold colors. Pretty much black, white and red. His lyrics are very powerful and by the titles of the songs on this album, I’m sure there’s going to be some really challenging messages beingRead More →
