I think it’s about time to spotlight another emerging and independent group trying to make it in the world of Christian music don’t you? People in a Box is a group that focuses on and specializes in dance/club music with a Christian message. Band front man and good friend of mine, Kurt Kirton, says it best: “It’s almost a subculture because of its connection to the rave scene,” Kirton comments. “Dance/club is the predominant form of music in Europe and is embraced by so many countries due largely to the fact that its versatile appeal brings people together.” A hardcore fan of the burgeoning genre,Read More →

If you’re an American Idol fan then you probably already know that Jordin Sparks beat out Blake Lewis in last night’s 2-hour finale to this season of American Idol. If you’re really an American Idol fan, then you should be reading Idol Stalker in addition to Christian Music Fan. I had written about Jordin a long time ago and how she had actually toured with Michael W. Smith on his Christmastime tour for the past two years. Michael has also been covering Jordin’s progress on American Idol from his own blog. I feel that Jordin has done a great job of maintaining her charm andRead More →

You can currently download the song “What I Hear” from HearItFirst’s website if you’re a member of their e-mail newsletter. “What I Hear” is from Jessie Daniels self-titled debut album. Jessie’s got a nicely designed website for herself. You can see some other photos of her and listen to a few of her songs and see some video clips as well as read her online journal. The photo there is from her website. Is it just me, or does she look like Carrie Underwood of American Idol fame as a brunette?Read More →

Crosswalk.com has a good review of an upcoming worship artist named Jeremy Riddle. They compare and liken him to the voices of Jeremy Camp or Jason Morant. Following on the heels of modern worship staples Chris Tomlin, Todd Agnew and David Crowder, “Full Attention” features 12 of Riddle’s original worship tracks, produced by Bob Hartry (the Emmy-nominated producer/songwriter who’s also a guitarist for Los Angeles band Kite7). With a voice and sound reminiscent of Jeremy Camp or Jason Morant, Riddle fits well into the Vineyard family. I’ve been a big fan of Jeremy Camp, so I’ll have to see if I can grab Riddle’s new albumRead More →

I’m just catching up on tonight’s episode of American Idol and their special “Idol Gives Back” show. What a great effort by an organization with some serious clout and weight that could really get some things changed. A single sponsor will be donating $5M if there are 50 million votes casted tonight. Melinda Doolittle performed a song by Faith Hill titled “There Will Come A Day” from her “Breathe” album. I’m not a country music fan, so I’d never heard this song before that I can remember. However, with Melinda Doolittle performing it for what I consider the first time I’ve ever heard it,Read More →
