I’m not sure what I’m more excited about, the fact that Caedmon’s Call and Derek Webb are featured on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, or that it’s actually a new episode of Grey’s Anatomy. My wife is probably more excited about the latter.
The song featured is “Ten Thousand Angels” and was originally written by singer/songwriter Sandra McCracken. You can go to her website and get a free download of her singing the demo version in MP3 format.
Here’s what an e-mail I received from Derek Webb says about the song being featured on the show:
Ten Thousand Angels will receive a rare and lengthy place on an upcoming episode of the ABC hit drama series Grey’s Anatomy TONIGHT, Thursday, January 10th. Recorded by Caedmon’s Call and featuring vocals by Derek Webb, the song will play for five consecutive minutes during an emotionally charged final scene. In order for the song to fit the length of the scene, an extra minute was even edited in, which on one of television’s biggest shows is especially uncommon. Tune in to ABC TONIGHT at 9PM (EST) / 8 PM (CST)
Pretty cool eh? Derek Webb has become one of my favorite singers and songwriters over the past year or so since I’ve been writing on Christian Music Fan.
