I guess saying Tori found a “new” hiding place in her latest album isn’t quite accurate as the album title actually comes from a verse in Psalms that’s one of her favorites. [Keep reading to find out how you can win a copy of this album for yourself!] You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Psalm 32:7 I’ve been able to enjoy listening to this album for well over a week now. I sliced through the cellophane Tuesday evening of last week as I prepared to begin a late night drive from Nashville upRead More →

Kiana Levi has always loved to sing. For as long as she can remember she has been singing every day. Whether it was TV theme songs or classic Disney tunes, she was always using her voice to project beauty. By first grade she performed her first solo, a song called “Speaking With Kindness.” This talented teen artist is Kiani Levi of Venetia. Kiana has recently taken her talents to the next level with her first self titled album, “Kiana Levi”, produced by Tate Publishing. In 2011 Kiana auditioned for Actors, Models, & Talent for Christ when they were in her home state of Pennsylvania. Kiana’sRead More →

I popped in Hello Industry’s MaryAnn CD, and for a few glorious seconds I thought I was listening to 1980’s Petra. Sure, I’m probably the only one who heard it, but this album is chock full of subjective comparisons, though usually to other pop alternative bands: “Kinda reminds me of early U2.” “I think I heard a little Daft Punk in there.” “Sounds like Coldplay.” And that’s OK. Hello Industry has all kinds of influences, but that doesn’t mean Nathan Peterson and gang aren’t their own band. They are, and they’re quite good. Not everybody has to be a pioneer. Or are they? Amanda Stott has a great voice, and her 2011 album, Place to Start Again, showcases it well. The Canadian singer moved to Nashville a few years ago to pursue a solo career, following a self-titled country debut (2000) and pop follow-up (Chasing the Sky, 2005). Released independently, Place to Start Again takes Stott in a new direction, artistically and creatively. It’s the right direction. This faith-centered collection of songs is a simple affair, framed mostly by piano and strings. Stott takes listeners on a tour of the highs and not-too-lows of her spiritual journey (even when singing about tough times, she never gets too downbeat – an alternateRead More →

It’s that time of year again. Time to start running into the holidays full blast and participating in the blur that happens between November and the New Year. Capitol/EMI Records is releasing a new, 18-track CD of Christmas songs from the Grammy winning franchise “Alvin and the Chipmunks”, the 6-time Grammy winning blockbuster group.
