It must have been Creation ’95 that I went to but never saw a single concert. I was schedule to help with the setup and tear down of the event grounds. For the first time in my life though I experienced something along the lines of “homesickness”, except I wasn’t sick for home. The challenge was that I was in the middle of a great event with not a single friend to share it with. I ended up leaving early, before the concert even started and drove across the country to Kansas City to surprise visit a friend from college. Nothing related to myRead More →

There’s always been plenty of discussion to go around that talks about Bono and his faith and music. Undoubtedly his music has religious symbolism and meaning. There are lyrics he has that are very powerful and some of his viewpoints don’t align very well to my own. I do think he’s done lots of good in the world and has probably made more positive impact than most. Regardless of your religious viewpoints, if you like the music of U2, you’ve got to take advantage of the ability to be at and in one of their concerts in IMAX and 3D glory. It’s absolutely an amazingRead More →

Notice the headline didn’t state “Christian Artists”, in this recent news article Aly & AJ state that they’re really not interested in being labeled Christian artists, they prefer to be inclusive. Q: A couple years ago, you were up for contemporary inspirational artist at the American Music Awards. Do you consider yourselves a Christian music act? A: No. I don’t think our music has lyrics in there that would be actually stating the fact that we are Christians. It comes from a Christian standpoint where we are affected by our faith in our everyday life. But at the same time, I wouldn’t say we’re onlyRead More →

Jordin Sparks has now released her debut album and thankfully she’s consciously and actively maintained her innocence and wholesome image for the album. “I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to sing about,” Sparks said, “but I knew what I didn’t want to sing about.” That’s good stuff to hear in my opinion and I’m sure it reverberates with our readers too. That’s especially true of one the more personal songs on the album, “God Loves Ugly,” about overcoming insecurity about appearance. It may seem like an odd choice for the young beauty, but the song resonated with Sparks, especially after she endured some criticism fromRead More →

I wrote a few weeks ago about Amy Grant releasing a new album of her greatest hits. I’ve been listening to it now for a couple of weeks and it’s really like taking a walk down memory lane. I’ve always appreciated her music and talent and she’s obviously had a number of hits that were probably as popular in the mainstream music market as any of her hits were that were purely a Christian music release. If you were a fan of any of her popular songs, this would be an obvious gift to get yourself or ask someone to get it for you withRead More →
