One of the albums I’ve been listening to for a number of weeks now is Jeff Johnson’s “Glorious Day” album. This is Jeff’s 3rd album. He first released “Shaken” in 2003 and “Enter In” in 2005. If you’re an American Idol fan, you may recognize Jeff’s face and name. If I’ve got my timing right, he was a contestant during Season 4, with Carrie Underwood being the final winner. This article on Crosswalk.com talks a little about Jeff’s experience on the show and I love his response to the situation: One of the celebrity judges, Gene Simmons from the secular rock group Kiss, subsequently suggestedRead More →

Its seems a little weird to be listening to Christmas music this early in the year, but with so many new Christmas albums coming out I figured I’d do what I can to let you all know about some of the albums that are available. In this case, maybe one you’d not have even thought about purchasing. I need to preface this post by saying that my all-time favorite Christmas album is “A Christmas Song” by Russ Taff. This album is by far the best Christmas album to just pop in your player and have playing in the background during the holidays or preparing forRead More →

I wrote a few weeks ago about Amy Grant releasing a new album of her greatest hits. I’ve been listening to it now for a couple of weeks and it’s really like taking a walk down memory lane. I’ve always appreciated her music and talent and she’s obviously had a number of hits that were probably as popular in the mainstream music market as any of her hits were that were purely a Christian music release. If you were a fan of any of her popular songs, this would be an obvious gift to get yourself or ask someone to get it for you withRead More →

I don’t know if you caught the movie “Facing the Giants” when it was in theaters awhile back. It’s an absolutely great, inspiring and uplifting movie to watch with your family. Especially if you have boys who enjoy football like my son. Tonight we were watching it again. As I was working on some things I was hearing the music more this time since I wasn’t paying as much attention to the movie itself. I was noticing that the soundtrack is really a great collection of Christian music from popular artists. I knew this when the movie first came out, but I don’t think IRead More →

Mandisa Missing Her Niche

I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anyone make the statement that former American Idol contestant couldn’t sing. Crosswalk won’t argue with me on that point either, they in fact say “One thing’s for sure: This girl can sing. Her voice can fill any genre.” The problem they say though is that her album doesn’t really feel like there’s much focus. She can sing so well across so many different styles that she’s not held back to just one, but is that a problem? For someone with such a great voice, is she really missing one at the same time?
