Derek over at Industrial Addiction just gave me a heads up about this band he stumbled across. The group is called “RED” and you can find out more from their website here or their street team, Red Nation MySpace page. From listening to the song he had originally heard “Already Over” and a couple of more from their website, the lyrics seem to clearly have a message of hope and salvation. March 29, 2006 Red (Sony/BMG) will release its first nationally distributed project End of Silence on June 6. Red brings a unique blend of roiling guitars, epic string arrangements, strong melodies, and passionate vocals.Read More →

Just got an e-mail from Steve Counsel letting me know what he’s been up to since the start of the year. He’s working on some tracks now that were recorded at West Lake Studios before Christmas with his band. This is the same studio where Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” LP was recorded, but as Steve said he’s looking for some hits to come out of this one and not zombies. Good call Steve! Here shared a link with me of an extended mix of his “Deliverance Song”. The mix really highlights his hard-hitting guitar talent and showcases it. The solo at the end is great!   It must have been Creation ’95 that I went to but never saw a single concert. I was schedule to help with the setup and tear down of the event grounds. For the first time in my life though I experienced something along the lines of “homesickness”, except I wasn’t sick for home. The challenge was that I was in the middle of a great event with not a single friend to share it with. I ended up leaving early, before the concert even started and drove across the country to Kansas City to surprise visit a friend from college. Nothing related to myRead More →

Does the name David Bach ring a bell with you? What about the song “Sweet Mystery“. Ahhhh, Guardian! I was first introduced to the group by my friend Dan in college. He had the “Miracle Mile” album and my favorite tracks from the song were: “I Found Love” “Sweet Mystery” “The Captain” “Do You Know What Love Is” I hadn’t thought about them much until William let me know their former lead singer and bassist, David Bach has his own blog and some interesting insight into the Christian music industry and other topics.Read More →

Now here’s a good review of one of the acts that’s appearing in Winter Jam 2008, Barlow Girl. This article talks about their success in mainstream music radio along with bands like Relient K, Switchfoot and Lifehouse, but the articles shares that Barlow Girl isn’t interested in crossing over. “They can cross over to our side,” eldest sister Rebecca Barlow says defiantly. “We are writing songs that God put into our hearts. If He opens those doors, great — but we would not change the themes of songs. We’re going to be who we are. What God put in our hearts to write about isRead More →
